Selfish people. A rant.
So. Here we are again. This time, to rant. Lately I've been dealing with several people who I like to term middle schoolers. Even though they're all far older than that. What I'm speaking of is their middle-schoolish behavior. This involves far more than it may seem. When you think middle school, you probably think drama, right? Well. That's only the start of this sticky goopiness. It all started back in the beginning, in Genesis. Well, Eve had to go and pick the fruit, and why? Because she wanted to be like God. There, that small instant in time when she chose to pluck the fruit instead of leaving it alone like God told her to, was when the nasty beast called Selfishness came into full being. Since then, people have generally done whatever they want without any regard for other people. Humans, in general, have been infalliably selfish since the beginning. Well, why should I bother to complain about this? Because there are a few people in my life, and in my studies of history, who have shone out to me as the people really worth knowing. I don't know what good it does to rant. The few selfless people make the selfish ones seem SO BAD, I just don't know what to do with myself. Honestly though, how much selflessness does it take to treat your sisters like humans beings who are intelligent and worth knowing? For the most part, very little. However, if you've never practiced thinking a little bit about other people in your wanderings in life, taking the tiny bit of effort to treat other people like humans is enormous. Why? Apparently behaviors can atrophy or grow very strong just like muscles. Well. Apparently being selfish is a very strong trait that you have to fight against. Apparently some of us aren't strong enough to fight the battle. A pity, that.
