Adventures never fit into one mold.

Wow. July 4th already. Today was a quite epic day in the world of Bethany. Although I woke up earlier than I wished and went to work, the best part of my day started when I got home. I took a two hour nap. It was fantastic. I then spent a few hours rattling around the house, until my (popular) little sister's plans were canceled. My dad then suggested we go do something fun.
Ah, thus begin many adventures.
First, we made our way to A&W, ordered three items and ended up with four. In the confusion of what do to with an extra milkshake, my dad broke a traffic law. Oops. We got pulled over by a young, slightly over-zealous police officer for pulling straight into the far lane. We failed to palm off the extra milkshake on him. He let us off with a warning, and the adventure continued.
After the milkshake/traffic incident we headed up to the hill to the tennis courts. My little sister and I played for a while well my dad texted my older sister and her boyfriend from my phone. How Dad and Chris got on the subject of Will Smith, I shall never know.
About 8:30, the first fireworks spectators arrived. They told us that in years past the sprinklers had come on on the hill at 10pm. Other first arrivals disputed the point. We shrugged it off, assuming we'd see who was right at 10pm. My dad told me to do the She's a Maniac dance if/when the sprinklers turned on.
About 8:45 the lightning storm began. It was distant enough that the sunset was reflecting off the rain in the east. God and Mother Nature certainly upstaged the fireworks tonight, but seeing them at the same time was fantastic. By 9:45 the hill was very full--obviously a popular place for watching fireworks. At 10 o' clock precisely, the sprinklers turned on, sparking a number of screams and a general migration down the hill. My sister and I were laughing uproariously, and ran through the sprinklers while yelling. Oh, a life lesson for you-- Bare legs, water, and grass is a killer recipe for itchy legs.
The Fair fireworks began right after the sprinklers announced it was time. They had been thoroughly outdone by the lightning and the sprinklers.
