Hearts and Evil Queens

So any of you familiar with the card game Hearts should know how the game works. Hearts are worth one point, and the Queen of Spades is worth thirteen points. Points are bad. I fondly nickname the Queen of Spades the evil queen -- not only for the huge number of points she bestows upon you if you receive her, but for the taunting glance she throws your direction as she waits to be added to your score. She lays there on the table, looking up at you with her beady eyes, and saying, "You get thirteen points from me, and just go make the bargain better, I'm going to taunt you and poke at your guts as well!" How rude can you get? This woman loves to make you lose. So I was playing a friendly game of Hearts with my family, and I was dealt a decent hand. A nice mix of three suits... And no spades but the Queen. "Alright," I said to myself, "This is good, I like to keep track of the Evil Queen." My ingenious plan of passing her off on someone else almost always works. But this time, about halfway through the game, my little sister, who happened to be sitting directly to the right of me in this clockwise game, started with the six of spades. Inner anguish and writhing commenced, and with great cringing and moaning, I played the Evil Queen. My parents layed down cards lower than the Queen. I cried out in agony, and took the Evil Queen to be added to my score. I plummeted several places downward. The moral of this story is don't trust evil queens, and don't take taunting from them.
