Gone Nuts.

All my life I have hated coconut. The smell was enough to make me want to run away. The taste made me make nasty faces and spit the taste vehemently out. My hatred of coconut has become something I take almost for granted, automatically saying, "Ew," at the suggestion of the flavour. At the start of my working at my current job, a candy and ice cream shop I was commanded to taste every product we sell. Tough job, that. Well, when I came to the coconut ice cream, I instinctively tried to think of every way to avoid tasting it. I tasted it against my better judgement. We will get back to that in a moment. I, not being a huge fan of gooeyness, had not had peanut butter in a long while, although I was an avid consumer when I was younger. The other day my mom offered my a bite of pretzel dipped in peanut butter. Not being squeamish, I took said bite. Well, upon the entrance of the peanut butter into my mouth, I was filled with greatest disgust and some revulsion. The pretzel was good anyway. Now, back to the coconut ice cream. I'd better get back to that or you'll think this is pointless. When I inserted the small bit of coconut ice cream into my mouth, I was not as horrified by the taste as I expected. In fact, I almost enjoyed that small bit of coconutness. Shortly after that, I tried a coconut cluster, which is shredded coconut mixed with milk chocolate. Although my lips said ew, my deep inner self thought it was delicious. Today, having noticed this odd reversal of tastes, I tried a piece of peanut butter candy. It was gross. I seem to have exchanged one nut for the other.
